Shaving

A patch test will be carried out at least 24 hours before treatment.

You must not wax, use an epilator, undergo electrolysis, bleach or have threading in the area to be treated for at least 4 weeks before your first treatment session.

Generally, shaving is recommended 24 hours prior to treatment. If we have to shave the area, there will be a charge of £5.00.

Tanning

Tanning should be avoided as a minimum 4 weeks prior to treatment and during the entire treatment process.

If you have a tan you will have to postpone treatment until your tan has completely faded (whether natural or an artificial tan). Ensure that the skin returns to its normal colour.

Do not use any artificial tanning products on treated area 4 weeks before treatment or during a course of treatments. Do not use sun beds or ‘fake tanning’ products at least four (4) weeks prior to treatment.

Individual skin does vary so it is your responsibility to ensure that your skin pigment is ‘normal’ prior to the first treatment and all subsequent treatments

Aftercare

The treated area may appear red after your treatment. Avoid excessive heat, sauna, steam room, hot baths, vigorous exercise and swimming and any type of friction.  Apply Aloe Vera, Cold Pads or any other soothing agent on the treated are if needed.

Use sunscreen with a sun block of SPF 25-30 to avoid exposure to sunlight during the treatment period, and as a minimum 4 weeks after. Sun tanning activates the melanin in the skin, which could result in pigmentation marks. Advise the therapist of any changes in medications and your health.

Cool any areas, which remain warm after treatment with cooling aloe vera gels, cold compresses.

Limit your sun exposure as much as possible subsequent to treatment/in between a course of treatments and for at least 4 weeks after treatment.

We recommend that you drink 2 litres of water a day. Good hydration is also important to maintain good skin texture. Keep the treatment area clean and dry. You will find loose, cotton clothing more comfortable on treatment area.

If you come for your appointment and there is ANY contraindication e.g. suntan, pregnancy or you have used contra indicated products, we will be unable to carry out your treatment and you will lose that session. We will not be able to reschedule your session, as it is detrimental to our efforts to make IPL/QPL as affordable as we possibly can for our clients through wasted appointment slots. Our cancellation policy is 48 hours.
